Challenge

The company had overstretched its overhead commitments on property and staff prior to the recession and was approaching a loss making position. The new owner was keen to reverse the situation having made a substantial acquisition investment.


Solution

The task was to cut the property overheads as far as possible, re-negotiate training contracts with major accountancy firms, convert many staff to flexible working (as adopted successfully by the new owner with its existing businesses) and re-invest savings in new distance learning projects.


Results

Stabilisation of the company's position awaiting an upturn in the market coupled with considerable success with new product launches, which led ultimately to a disposal of the company.
